Situation
While working with the registry office, we had several days where we were short staffed during rushes at the end of the day or month.
Task
My manager would request extra hours for staff when needed during these busy times so the staff would not become overwhelmed by large numbers of customers
Action
I would come in on my days off, come in early or stay later in the day.
Result
Tasks were completed in a more timely manner, customers were efficiently helped and staff was not overworked by delegating responsibilities to more people.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Situation
While working at Cochrane Ramada, I was mainly put on the evening front desk shift which lead to me working alone most of my shift.
Task
While on shift, I had an emergency situation arise when we had a gas leak throughout the hotel. Being the only staff member on duty at the time, it was my responsibility to contact emergency services and evacuate the hotel of all guests.
Action
According to my training, I contacted the local fire department, and evacuated the hotel by activating the fire alarms while I waited for emergency services and my manager to arrive.
Result
As a result of quick thinking and my training, I was able to have the entire hotel evacuated safely and no one was injured during the process.
